Copy trading without bans: anti-ban best practices

Many prop firms ban accounts for "IP problems": when they detect several accounts trading from the same IP, or copying between accounts with an identical timing pattern. Here is how the Onyx copier handles it and what is on you.

Onyx does not centralize execution

The Onyx cloud only relays the signal (what opened or closed). The actual order to the broker is placed by the Onyx Connect running on YOUR terminal (your PC or VPS). The firm sees the trade coming from that terminal's IP, not from our servers.

Why it matters
This is an advantage over "cloud" copiers where every copy comes from the same infrastructure and leaves an identical shared IP across hundreds of accounts. That does not happen with Onyx.

Golden rule: one VPS/IP per account

The firm sees the IP of WHERE the slave runs. If you put the master and slave(s) —or several funded accounts— on the SAME machine/VPS, they share an IP and the firm can correlate them. To minimize risk, run each account (especially across different firms or identities) on a separate VPS/IP.

Random delay (jitter)

On each Copy link you can turn on "Random delay (s)". Onyx adds a random delay (0…N s) before copying each open, so the slave's timing is NOT identical to the master and does not flag by pattern. Closes always go out instantly so no trade is left orphaned.

How much
A value of 2–8 s is usually enough to break the pattern without missing the trade. Set 0 to turn it off.

IP is only one signal

Firms also flag copying by: near-identical timing, equal lot ratios, same device fingerprint, and —most importantly— many PROHIBIT copying between funded accounts or across different traders in their rules, regardless of IP. No technical tool protects you from breaking the rulebook.

This is technical information, not compliance advice. Rules change and vary by firm: ALWAYS read your prop firm's rulebook before copying between accounts.
