If you trade with EAs (robots), Onyx separates them for you. Each robot tags its trades with an identifier —the magic number— and Onyx groups by account and by magic, so you see each robot's performance on its own, not all mixed together.
The three states
Running: it has an open position right now.
Online: your EA is syncing and the robot is present (it has traded or you registered it), but with no open position.
No activity: no recent signal from that robot.
Adding a robot manually
If your robot has not traded yet, you can register it by its magic number to see it right away. When you add it, Onyx shows the magics it detected on your account so you do not have to guess.
Why the magic matters
Each trade is attributed to a robot by its magic. If two robots share the same magic, Onyx cannot separate them: give each one a different magic in its settings.
Onyx only measures and monitors your robots: it never starts, stops or changes their settings. You do that in your MetaTrader.
